* ¿En qué época se dio origen a la pintura al óleo? *
En el 2001 fueron descubiertas pinturas con la técnica del óleo en las cuevas de Bamiyan, Afghanistan. De un total de 50 cuevas, 12 de ellas fueron pintadas con óleo, utilizando tal vez nueces y óleos secos de semillas de amapola. Tal descubrimiento es prueba de que la mencionada técnica había sido descubierta tiempo antes que en Europa. Hasta entonces se creía que había sido originada en Europa en el siglo XV, pero este descubrimiento muestra que ya se utilizaba mucho antes en éstas tierras.

* At what time did oil painting originate? *
In 2001 oil paintings were discovered in the caves of Bamiyan, Afghanistan. Of a total of 50 caves, 12 of them were painted with oil, perhaps using nuts and dried poppy seed oils. Such a discovery is proof that the aforementioned technique had been discovered earlier than in Europe. Until then it was believed that it had originated in Europe in the 15th century, but this discovery shows that it was used much earlier in these lands.
