El primer adhesivo sintético producido comercialmente fue Karlsons Klister en la década de 1920. Los aplicadores de adhesivos diferentes están diseñados de acuerdo con el adhesivo que se utiliza y el tamaño del área a la que se aplicará el adhesivo. El adhesivo se aplica a uno o ambos materiales que se unen.
El adhesivo de Karlson desde 2001 es propiedad del fabricante internacional de adhesivos UHU. El adhesivo universal se basaba en celuloide disuelto en acetona Hoy en día, el pegamento se fabrica con el mismo nombre pero con diferentes propiedades en Alemania.

The first commercially produced synthetic adhesive was Karlsons Klister in the 1920s. Different adhesive applicators are designed according to the adhesive being used and the size of the area to which the adhesive will be applied. The adhesive is applied to one or both of the bonding materials.
