Prilidiano Pueyrredón (1823 - 1870), fue uno de los precursores de la pintura en Argentina. Se formó en Europa y a pesar de su corta vida, falleció a los 47 años, produjo más de 200 piezas. Si bien era mejor conocido por su labor como retratista, dejó una enorme colección de paisajes y escenas de campo. Además de ser pintor, Pueyrredón fue arquitecto e ingeniero. Su obra, marcada por una influencia neoclásica y elementos del romanticismo, combina una estética y temas dictados por la academia con una representación costumbrista de la vida popular.

* In the Artist´s Story *
Prilidiano Pueyrredón (1823 - 1870), was one of the forerunners of painting in Argentina. He was trained in Europe and despite his short life - he passed away at age 47 - he produced more than 200 pieces. While he was best known for his work as a portrait painter, he left behind a huge collection of landscapes and field scenes. In addition to being a painter, Pueyrredón was an architect and engineer. His work, marked by a neoclassical influence and elements of romanticism, combines an aesthetic and themes dictated by the academy with a costumbrista representation of popular life.
