Conocido por su arte comprometido con la sociedad, Antonio Berni (1905 - 1981 ),retrató a los sectores más bajos y olvidados de Argentina. Nacido en Rosario fue pintor, grabador, dibujante, muralista e ilustrador, y utilizó estos medios para abordar la falta de empleos, la pobreza, el alza del fascismo y los efectos de la industrialización en la ciudad de Buenos Aires en la primera mitad del siglo XX. Tras explorar las corrientes artísticas de Europa, adoptó el nuevo realismo, convirtiéndose en una de las figuras más importantes del movimiento y en uno de los pintores argentinos más importantes de la historia.
